When Change Comes Things Change!
So said Bishop Corletta Vaughn from Detroit
USA at a ”Camp Meeting” ! It has taken
several years to work through the process of
how much I too must change, in order for
me to stay abreast with God’s leading here in
the Ministry at “Mamre”. Seven years ago
together with Doreen and supported by the
Rev Alan and Dorothy Langstaff (the original
Founders of Vision Ministries) I handed the
Leadership of Vision Ministries over to the
Rev. Jeffrey and Rebecca
Evans, and what seemed
simple for everybody else
has been a struggle for me.
I guess that’s why it has
been a process and not an
easy “Snap” one.
The Rev
Dan Armstrong recently
questioned me, “How
have you handled handing
over the Ministry Harry?”
I responded to his
question “With great
difficulty for a long time,
but it’s easy now!” It’s
amazing how one can
change over a seven year
period! My struggle has had nothing to do
with Jeff and Rebecca, they are my family
and I love them dearly, but that seven years
has been all about “ME”!
I’d become very
possessive of what God had done here at
“Mamre”, on old Westcott land, that I’d been
honoured to now own. “Land Rights” is not
just an Aboriginal idea, it’s very much a
“White Fella” deal too! Praise God His Holy
Spirit has broken that ancestral hardness in
my heart and melted and moulded me into a
different person altogether. From Heaven I
believe all my forebears are rejoicing that this
little block of Australia has truly become
“Holy Ground”.
How privileged and blessed
Doreen and I have been to be the “Founders”
of this amazing Missionary Base of Christian Ministry now known around the world as
“Mamre Farm”. Releasing this ministry to Jeff
and Bec has been a journey of complete
surrender and I can’t make any other person
understand the spiritual reality of those facts.
Doreen and I never came here following a
“Call” from God. We simply came to escape
from judgmental Christians! We were “hurt”,
“broke ”, “burnt out ”, “ lonely ”, and
overwhelmed
with “failure”!
But out here
in the ol d
home my
mother gave
me, where I
grew up, Jesus
c ame and
appeared to
me afresh and
s a id: “ I’m
here Harry,
and I like
what I see”! I
replied: “You,
This is
Nazareth, I was born here, and you didn’t do
much at Nazareth! What’ll they do to me?
Jesus then said this to me and it changed my
life forever; “Harry, I was never called Jesus
of Jerusalem, I’m Jesus from Nazareth”!
What a revelation? So like Nazareth, from
Alectown (where you can’t even buy a coke)
you can reach the world in Jesus Name.
This year is our 22nd”Old Fashioned Revival
Camp Meeting” and fondly nicknamed by
the youth over the years as “Harry’s Camp”.
Well this is my last Camp! Next year I
believe God will do a new thing as Jeff and
Rebecca lead you into a whole new way of
living in God’s wonderful presence.
