- There are 86400 seconds in a day. How many of those do we stop to say thank you?
- Over the last few weeks we have been looking at faith. We have talked about our words – life and death is in the power of the tongue. What we say does make a difference. When it comes to faith our words are important.
- There are lots of things that help us in our faith. Words are one and another is thankfulness. Thankfulness is something we easily overlook. What are we doing with thankfulness?
- There is a saying, "A wise man doesn’t grieve for what he doesn’t have, but rejoices for what he does have."
- Gratitude is attractive.
- Thankfulness breeds people wanting to do more.
- If we focus on what we don’t have, we lose confidence, faith, and we start to focus on the problems rather than the solutions.
- Luke 17 – Jesus heals the 10 lepers. Only one came back to say thank you, a Samaritan.
- Thankfulness is vital to keeping your faith active and your confidence high. Thanksgiving keeps us moving forward.
- Sometimes we get a mentality that this is our right, like the nine lepers who didn’t return to give thanks.
- Philippians 4:6-8 – Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
- It’s easy to tell a grateful person from an ungrateful person. From the words they speak, what comes out of their mouth, their demeanor, and what they focus on.
- Today write down five things you are grateful for, and be thankful for those things. Do that every day this week and really be thankful.
- Gratefulness, thankfulness develops a sweet spirit within us. When we can be thankful no matter what our circumstances are. It’s powerful faith.
